Mark Barry

Mr. Barry started his professional career as a soda jerk at a movie theater where he learned to hate popcorn. Later, he was an Art Director in the New York office of J. Walter Thompson and ran a popular online art magazine on the side. After that, he sold his soul to United Health Group. With a pocket full of money and unbelievably strong need be allowed to do real creative again, he founded his own agency, Subata Corp., which he ran for 6 years. Finally, after a mild midlife crisis in 2011, he went back to school to get an MFA for painting pretty pictures. That’s when he fell in love with teaching, which is what he does now at The University of Alabama, Department of Advertising and Public Relations where he is the acting director of the Advertising Creative Specialization.
