We are excited to announce that this year’s Highway to Hale (H2H) Bike Ride accepted an invitation to join the 2018 Alabama Backroads Century Series.
The 2018 Alabama Backroads Century Series (ABCS) is comprised of 13 century (100-mile) bike rides that are held throughout the state. Its purpose is to promote the growth and development of long distance cycling in Alabama. Participating cyclists are rewarded a medal for every century ride they complete, a patch for every 4 rides, and a custom ABCS 2017 jersey after completing 10 rides. Learn more on the ABCS website: www.alabama-backroads-cycling.com
The 4th annual H2H bike ride will be held on June 9, 2018. The ride starts and ends at the Moundville Archaeological Park in Moundville, Alabama (located about 10 miles south of Tuscaloosa and interstates 20 and 59). The event consists of four distances: a 25-mile ride out and back, a 38-mile loop through Akron, a 69-mile loop through Greensboro and the Talladega National Forest, and a 100+ mile figure-eight-shaped ride that covers most of Hale County.
Registration opens on January 2018. Registrants will have the opportunity to purchase a H2H jersey/bib kit. Route information and other updates will be made on the H2H website: highway2hale.com. For H2H updates and news, connect on Facebook, Twitter @hwy_2_hale, and Instagram @hwy2hale.
The Highway to Hale Bike Ride is a fundraising initiative of the American Advertising Federation of Tuscaloosa. Through the proceeds collected from H2H, the club is able to provide scholarships to college students entering the field of advertising.
Special thanks to our new ride director, Fred Twilley, and the Tuscaloosa Cycling Club for their support.
Thank you to the ABCS sponsors: Buffalo Rock/Pepsi, Primal, Academy Sports, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, TREK bikes, Thomas Waters State Farm Insurance, and Four Corners Gallery.
