Labeled as a dynamic and passionate speaker, Tuscaloosa AAF welcomes Debbie Hughes as their guest speaker, Thursday, October 16, 2014. Debbie will be sharing her personal experiences working for a community minded organization like IBM. She will share what IBM has done locally in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham and also what they continue to do on a global scale.
Debbie is passionate about giving back to the community and practices charitable giving of both her money and time. She has hands-on involvement in many organizations like Jack and Jill and her church where she spent numerous vacation days volunteering in disaster relief activities in the after-math of the devastating tornado that hit Tuscaloosa in 2011.
Debbie has worked with Habitat for Humanity by serving four years as secretary. Her work as a licensed general contractor has helped get 50+ needy families into homes. She was featured in the Tuscaloosa News in 2006 for her time and commitment in the community. She has also been featured in the US News and Wall Street Ad for IBM while working at Mercedes. She was with the original IBM team that helped start the Mercedes Benz IT department in Vance, Alabama. In June 2014, Debbie was honored by CRN for being in the Top Most Powerful Women in the Channel.
